Condemned
I have just finished reading a book by Emmanuel Carrère (Yoga). I envy the ability of certain writers to look at their own lives with clarity, but I also envy those who are so consumed by a malaise that they deliriously dive into it. I have to get a cavity filled and I've been avoiding it, but I thought of a solution to stop putting things like this off. I was taking my cat to the vet and it hit me. The only reason he goes to the vet is because I chase him around the apartment and forcibly bring him there. He's not gonna walk up to me and be like “Hey dude, my poop has been weird lately. You should probably get it checked out”
But that gave me an idea. What if there was a service where you could hire someone significantly larger than you, to literally manhandle you to be places you don't want to go. Like, the day of your appointment, someone 30% larger than you knoks your door, you sign a consent form, then they chase you around your apartment until you get too tired to fight back. And then they bring you to the dentist.
The job wouldn't just be physical. They'd also have to stand in the corner and tell you encouraging things. Like what I tell my cat at the vet. You're a brave boy. You're a very brave boy. You're gonna get a big treat later. And it doesn't have to be the dentist. Maybe you need to be manhandled to therapy or maybe you need to be manhandled to that beach vacation you deserve
